Windows Across Missouri - A Culinary View

$21.50

Celebrating its 75th Anniversary in the year 2000, the Missouri State Medical Alliance has a history and a future rich in the giving of its time, talents and ressources to improving the lives of countless Missouri citizens. During a time when proactive women's organizations were not in vogue, Auxiliary founders' beliefs in family values and the need for health education in their communities were tuned into action. In 1924, in a letter of invitation to membership in a state Auxiliary, Mrs. Geaorge H. Hoxie, of Jackson County, Missouri, who became the first president of the state Auxiliary, wrote,

"Our immediate aim is to educate ourselves in matters of public health and to be prepared to secure the backing of women's organizations and other groups for legislative enactments which the Missouri State Medical Association desires to be passed."

Members traveled to that first meeting from 60 Missouri counties, and the Missouri State Medical Association Auxiliary was founded. County medical society Auxiliaries then formed across the state. In the early 1990s, many followed the trend and changed the name "Auxiliary" to "Alliance."
